Who am I? (About Me)

It didn’t take long for my hands to find a wrench and for the wrench to guide me towards a lifelong passion for the automobile. Since I was three, I have been toddling in, under, and around cars, tractors, and steam engines. The other love of my life is literature. Funny enough, cars and literature are a natural combination, as the automobile has been the metaphor for freedom, movement, and escape since its incarnation. I received my English degree at the University of West Florida and promptly put it to use in what seems like the most unlikely of ways—dissecting cars. Perhaps I am the only one that fuels my love of words with my love of cars, but it makes sense to me, and I’ve been in the automotive industry for over 15 years.

I’ve worked in all facets of that community, and besides that—I’ve been a hobbyist. I’ve built a few, tinkered on many, and drooled over more than I can count. The last of the classics that blessed my garage was a 1954 Buick Roadmaster.  She’s the real Roadmistress…I rode on her coattails.  There will be another classic someday. It’s imminent.

There is one higher passion for me—just one, though. Animal rescue has been a lifelong pursuit. The love of my furry friends destroys my bank account and, more often than not, my heart.

I also became enthralled with WWII, primarily because of my family’s involvement. I’ve spent many years studying this era and tracking my Uncle’s steps. I’m earning my Master’s in WWII history as we speak. It was a hell of a thing, wasn’t it?

I write because I’m compelled to do so.  I started telling my parents that I wanted to be a writer when I was a tiny little kid, and that fact of life has never changed.  I love central, solid characters and usually gravitate towards “stranger in a strange land” tales.

My life has embodied this story, so I write what I know.
